Chamber Business Awards – Solutions Shortlisted
On Thursday evening, Solutions attended the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce ‘Presidents Summer Reception’ at the very prestigious, Thrumpton Hall. This is an annual event where the finalists for the Chamber Business Awards are announced as well as it being a fantastic networking opportunity for businesses in the local area.
Solutions have been a member of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce for 16 years and we strongly believe that being a member of the Chamber is important to small businesses in the local community. Being a member of such a well-recognised organisation gives us the opportunity to network, meet like-minded individuals and find out more about what businesses in the region have to offer. It also gives a support network and business advice that we have been able to benefit from.
On Thursday, we found out we have been shortlisted for two Chamber Business Awards in the Nottinghamshire region. The awards are ‘Business Improvements through Technology’ and our very own George Dennis has been shortlisted for ‘Apprentice of the Year’. Being shortlisted for these two awards means a huge deal to us at Solutions, being recognised for having a strong workforce and for being leaders in the field of technology is incredibly significant for us.
At Solutions, we have a great association with apprenticeships and pride ourselves on recruiting additional members of the team, annually, through these schemes. Over the past 3 years we have had 12 apprentices, 7 of which have successfully completed their apprenticeships and have continued to develop their careers with us. The other 5 are still completing their apprenticeships at Solutions.
Solutions Managing Director, Iain Barker said “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for both of these categories. Solutions being recognised for all our hard work is a great feeling. Being recognised as a leader in the field of technology is fantastic and shows that our hard work is paying off. Having our very own George Dennis shortlisted for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ is a huge achievement too. He is incredibly mature, hardworking and has excelled in the 9 months he has been at Solutions, we can’t wait to see where the rest of his career takes him within Solutions.
“I have a very clear mentality and ethos within Solutions which is to recruit at a junior level and then grow people within the business. I like to internally promote if I see potential in a person and help them evolve and fulfill their potential. For me, as long as someone has the right attitude and mentality, they will do very well at Solutions. The skills can all be taught – you can’t teach a good attitude. This ethos seems to have worked well for us so far, with over 30% of our workforce having done over 10 years’ service at Solutions!”
