Fixed Year End ensures departments retain the correct codes
If you are using Departments within Sage 50, then you will be familiar with the issue that occurs when running a Year End routine. The software changes the department codes you set and gives them a new department code of zero.
While the standard routine takes the individual amounts from the Profit and Loss (P&L) nominal codes, and posts the correct amounts into the Balance Sheet nominal codes, it removes any set department and instead assigns them all to department zero.
This can cause issues down the line as it may affect departmental balance sheets, as there would be no reference back to the correct department for the journals.
To resolve this, you must journal each of the transactions back to their initial, correct department code, which is a manual process that can eat up valuable time. The more departments you use, the longer this process takes, and increases the possibility of mistakes.
Our Year End module changes the routine slightly, moving these journals out of Department Zero and back to the correct Department automatically. This saves you time and reduces the amount of manual work involved.
