On May the 18th the UK celebrates 2025’s National Children’s Day. It’s a UN-associated awareness day aimed at promoting the rights and entitled protections of children worldwide. The movement culminates each year with World Children’s Day on the 20th of November.
At Solutions, we consider it our responsibility to help our community in any way possible. We believe in creating local job opportunities, promoting businesses in the East Midlands, and supporting charities.
Our 2025 Charity of the Year is Little Miracles, and National Children’s Day presents a great opportunity to highlight all their wonderful work towards helping children with disabilities.
Read on to discover what Little Miracles have been up to this year, as well as our own work in driving donations for them.
Little Miracles strives to ensure that children with additional needs have access to the care and support they require
Little Miracles was founded in 2010 by Michelle King with the aim of helping families that have children with additional needs, disabilities, and life-limiting conditions to be able to access the support they need — and connect with each other in confidence and without judgement.

Last year, the BBC found that councils faced a deficit of nearly £1 billion in school funds for special education and needs (SEND) pupils. This combined with continued cost-cutting measures, under the new Labour government, to welfare programmes, such as PIP, have left many families facing additional challenges.
The UK government estimates that 4.3 million children, or 30% of all children in the UK, live in low-income households or those that fall below the poverty line.
The situation is dire, and every penny of support could contribute towards helping to change a life for the better.
There are numerous ways you can help Little Miracles reach their goals, such as:
- Becoming a corporate partner with tax-efficient charitable contributions, and a boost to your firm’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives
- Taking part in community events with details posted on Little Miracles website
- Joining the Big Little Lottery with a £2 monthly ticket
- Donating through Gift Aid, which means that Little Miracles can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give.
In a report by the BBC, Little Miracles highlighted one of their current challenges — the rising demand for food banks in the UK. Their own food bank service has been struggling to meet demand.
Getting involved today, could help ensure children already facing additional challenges in life, don’t also face the prospect of starving.
Karen Gibbons, one of our Sage consultants, is leading our charge to support Little Miracles
Karen has championed Little Miracles the past few years and helped them get selected as our 2025 Charity of the Year. She has been busy working on multiple avenues of support and gathering donations.
Karen has set up:
A regular staff quiz with donations required upon entry
Volunteering efforts with members of our team dedicating their free time to helping out
Delivery of crocheted and knitted items from staff members for the charity to use to drive donations
A summer fete to take place this July
An autumn bake sale with a pre-Christmas snowman naming competition.
She is also pushing our team to support Little Miracles’ events, such as their:
- Inflatable 5k in Lincoln
- 5k Dog Jog virtual event.
