Sage Intacct has just received its final update of 2025. The software receives four updates per year, and each is filled with improvement, new features and even alterations suggested by real Sage Intacct users.
This final update of 2025 includes many changes to the system, and we discuss the core elements of these in this video.
However, now let’s go further in-depth and see what else was included in the Sage Intacct 2025 R4 update.
Changes to the Core Financials aspects of Sage Intacct
This latest update to Sage Intacct included a lot of new features and improvements to the Core Financials of the software.
Accounts Payable
- In the R3 release, Sage Intacct added a new email domain setup which supports many new features.
- In this release, this list of new features has grown, now including auto-forwarding rules, notifications for emails that bounce-back, and new file formats are accepted. Transactions that are included in the email body can now be read, not just the email attachments.
Accounts Receivable
When running customer statements, you now have new transaction options:
- Show all transactions
- Show open AR sales invoices and credits
- Show open AR sales invoices.
These new options allow for more granularity and insights, as well as making it easier to select which transactions appear on statements.
Cash Management
- Reconciliation rules can now be set up to combine debit and credit transaction amounts, for easier matching.
- By setting up these rules, you can save time and reduce the amount of manual work that is involved in combining the two transactions. The process is as simple as setting up a new rules and letting it run across the account.
General Ledger
- You can now get a more detailed and clearer picture of your finance data in the General Ledger and the Journals report by including unposted Journal Entries.
- This means that you can see draft journal entries alongside posted journals before they are committed to the books. This not only means that data can be analysed earlier by the finance team, based on partial data, it means a clear ‘what-if’ view if all expected journals are ultimately posted.
Purchasing
- Line-level matching for AP Automation with Purchasing is already a part of the Early Adopter program, but the R4 update saw several new enhancements added.
- You can now view exceptions in line entries where there are discrepancies between matched transaction lines. This allows you to monitor any issues with the data and can either edit the transaction lines or simply override the exception if required.
- You can also add lines from a source transaction when the AI doesn’t extract all line entries from the supplier document. You can add these lines from the original sourced transaction or from other sourced documents if needed.
Historical Contracts
This new feature will help to drastically reduce the onboarding time for Sage Intacct with Contracts.
When onboarding to Sage Intacct Contracts, previously this would require a lot of manual work with Active Contract Processing (ACP).
Now however, you can accelerate this process by giving the total billed and recognised amounts as of a given date, and then Sage Intacct will automatically record the historical balances to the General Ledger.
To ensure that you mark contract lines correctly, several new options have been added:
- Historical
- Historical billed
- Historical recognised
- Historical as of date
- Historical offset GL account
This new process is very simple as well:
- Determine the scope of your historical contracts and your go-live date
- Create a dedicated historical offset General Ledger (GL) account for tracking the historical postings
- Add historical contract lines
- Validate the data and verify that the historical amounts align with the subledger and GL balances.
Close Workspace
The Close Workspace is a centralised area to manage the period-close process with ease.
It helps to streamline workflows by working with templates, save time and raise visibility over the process by utilising checklists for every step of the process.
The Close Workspace was implemented as an early adopter feature during the 2025 R3 update, and since it was well-received, it is now being rolled out on general availability.
Sage Copilot
The AI-powered assistant within Sage Intacct, has received several updates and new features.
Search help
Copilot Search help has been updated to better understand the intent behind queries, to deliver better results to you. Search time has also been significantly reduced before delivering the results to you.
Email Creation
Copilot can now also help you save time creating emails by helping to draft emails for Close Workspace and Variance Analysis.
